Why go to boat shows?

You can tour a ton of boats! If you have no idea what type of boat you want, going to boat shows may be a great way to start your search. Nothing compares to actually standing on the deck and seeing for yourself how high the console is, what the upholstery color really looks like and inspecting the overall quality of construction of a boat. The number of boats at a large show like FLIBS (Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show) can be overwhelming. Search the boat show’s website to see where and what type of boats will be on display.

The boat show schedule often includes educational classes ranging from fishing seminars to close-quarters docking, navigating for beginners, etc. Many top people in boating are at the biggest shows and often present lectures, so be sure to sign up if you are in need of instruction or just want to hone your skills.

One of the fun things about a boat show, not unlike conventions, you get free stuff! It’s hard not to walk away with the usual pamphlets, but you will also will get hats, key chains and even T-shirts. Keep an eye out for fun loot.

The shopping at a boat show can be tempting. Everything you could ever want or need for boating and all the activities surrounding boating is represented at boat shows. There are even things you never knew existed such as amphibious vehicles, waterskiing squirrels and the occasional floating bar. Cheers!

Last but least, if it’s been awhile since you’ve been boating-this is a great way to get your fix. You may even get a boat ride!
