Off shore fishing boats

These boating apps will keep you organized, get you discounts, and keep you from getting lost or floating away:

The modules include: Log book to keep detailed records of trips, Fuel and Maintenance Logs, an Expense Log,  To-Do List and the all important Shopping List (how many times have you arrived at the marina without charcoal or paper plates?!).  A unique feature is the module entitled My Boat, which is a central place to record insurance information, registration, engine information, towing contacts and more.  iCloud enabled and all reports and logs can be sent via email to friends and family. $4.99 on the App Store

BoatUS- BoatUS has a free app that is great for members and non-members alike. You can use it to display your membership card to get discounts; it can give you your latitude and longitude even if out of cell phone range, and can share your location via Facebook. If calling for an on-water tow with this app, the “AAA of boating” will know your location. Free at the App Store

Navionics  Marine and Lakes:USA – Almost universally loved throughout boating circles, Navionics apps are well known and self-reported to be the best-selling apps. Marine and Lakes:USA  is one of its most popular. With great nautical maps at your fingertips, you and your smartphone are now ready to attack that long boating trip you’ve been planning or simply find your way back to that great fishing spot.     $9.99 Marine&Lakes:USA by Navionics  on iTunes, PC App and GooglePlay

Drag Queen Anchor Alarm– Great name for this anchor app! There are a lot of apps with flashier screens, but mixed reviews. This app is simple and to the point. It is easy to use, free and does the job when we tested it. The app alarms if your anchor has dragged. Like all the apps in this category the GPS runs continually and can drain your cell’s battery, so plugging it in may be worthwhile. It is not meant for navigation. Free at iTunes
